defected lava lamp?

I've had my lava lamp turned on here at work for over 24 hours, and even after being on for such a long time, it's still not doing what it's supposed to do.

At the reception desks here, their lava lamps would have multiple balls floating around, doing crazy things. Mine is just one giant ball floating up a little bit and then falling all the way back to the bottom again since it's so heavy...

I thought about calling the manufacture and saying "Dude, my balls are stuck." But I don't think that would sound quite right...

ummmm hmmm you can try that and see what they say and hopefully they don't take it the wrong way or you can try putting in another light bulb...maybe something that produces more watts.

Men are like ........Lava Lamps .... Fun to look at, but not very bright.

hahahahaha... just kidding! Look what I found! http://www.lavaworld.com/faqs.cfm

Q. Why do the LAVA® blobs stay as a glob at the bottom of the globe?

A. The base of your unit may not be getting hot enough, or, conversely, may be getting too hot. (see the Illustrations below) If it isn't moving there are two things to check:
1) Check your bulb to be sure it isn't burned out.
2) Be sure not to use the lamp beyond recommended time which results in over heating.
